We started our Buff Orpington flock in May 2013, drawn to their calm temperament and undeniable beauty. From the beginning, they quickly became my favorite breed to work with. Our foundation birds, including Mr. Roo (Champion English in 2013) came from Cindi Quinlan. In 2014, we expanded our bloodlines by adding a trio from Kathy Stevenson and began carefully crossing the two lines.
In 2015, I introduced genetics from two imported hens from the USA. Though they were quite old when they arrived, we were fortunate to hatch two chicks from them. I also experimented with test crosses from Leighton Valley Farms and Greendale Heritage Poultry. While these birds were excellent layers, we found they lacked the size and signature fluff that make Buff Orpingtons so special.
Through selective breeding and dedication, our flock continues to thrive, preserving the qualities that first drew us to this remarkable breed.
