February 2015 hatch cockerel Gold Laced Blue Orpington crossed to a Buff Orpington hen. I love this boys colour and size neither of which my camera does justice to. February 2015 Buff Orpington cockerel May 2015 hatch cockerels Buff Orpington and a Gold Laced crossed to Black Orpington
I am sad to announce that all of the gold laced have gone broody again..... This is the third time this year, in combination with all of the other problems I have had with horrible hatches, bad fertility, and 99% cockerels from what does hatch. This is the end for the gold laced this year I deeply regret not being able to fill orders for everyone. Please be assured that anyone already on my list will be left there for spring. Hopefully by adding some new blood I will be able to bypass these issues and fill orders come spring Lord willing.
Here is what I have faced I have set 92 gold laced eggs of those 15 have hatched sucessfully The gold laced grow outs have moved in with the adults. the barrier will remain up for a week or two then they will be free to mingle. I have found that roosters that grow up with hens seem to be nicer to their ladies in the long run.
